What to expect

When arriving for your first osteopathy appointment, please wear or bring along comfortable, suitable clothing and underwear as you may be requested to undress down to underwear for assessment.  A friend or family member is more than welcome to attend alongside you.

Osteopaths utilising the patient's complaints and detailed case history alongside extensive training will conduct various active and passive assessments, along with numerous orthopaedic tests to rule in/out what they think the problem is.  Following assessment, the patient will be informed what the problem is, and with their consent, treatment can commence followed by a management strategy which may include a selection of exercises, dietary adaptations/inclusions, and stretches to perform.

If required, follow up sessions are booked in at times to suit both the osteopath and patient.

If it is deemed not safe to treat, the practitioner will explain to the patient why and advised the next steps of their journey.

GP referral letters can be given to patients if required or the practitioner deems it necessary upon referral.
